The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the addition of advanced 3D crime scene mapping technology, a first in our agency’s history. This was made possible through a $95,000 grant written and secured by Sheriff Anthony Cline.
The Leica Crime Scene Mapping System captures over 2 million measurements per second, allowing investigators to process crime scenes faster and with unmatched accuracy. This technology also brings new opportunities for the courtroom, where judges and juries can view a crime scene in 3D exactly as investigators experienced it.
Sheriff Cline also plans to share this innovation with local schools, giving students a chance to see how technology is shaping modern law enforcement.
“This is a game-changer for Wythe County,” said Sheriff Cline. “It helps us solve crimes more effectively, enhances the pursuit of justice, and gives us the chance to inspire our children with hands-on learning, all while saving taxpayer money through grant funding.”
The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to transparency, innovation, and protecting our community.
